Area Police
Around 50 vehicles have been covered with what seems to be blood from a person in the German town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Vehicles, exterior walls and postboxes were marked, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they announced in a official communication.
Police report they were alerted during the night on Wednesday, when a individual discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued fluid.
The fluid had been drawn in the shape of a banned symbol, they reported.
Law enforcement then discovered numerous other vandalized cars and residential walls in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under legislation prohibiting the public display of Nazi symbols.
Police state early analysis show the liquid was likely blood from a person.
"At present there remains no lead as to its origin; authorities are presently not cognizant of any injuries in association with the event," they commented.
Municipal representatives stated they were trying "to solve the case" and have requested to the community for tips.
A high-ranking official commented the vandalism rendered him speechless and had to be solved quickly.
"This incident strikes at the very heart of Hanau and reopens the pain of the extremist attack half a decade ago," he posted on a platform, mentioning the killing of nine victims by a shooter aiming at people of migrant background in five years prior.
