I will overwhelm 'legitimate fighter' Paul - Joshua

Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul face-off

Anthony Joshua will face Jake Paul in an eight-round contest which will be streamed live on Netflix.

Briton Anthony Joshua stated he will "dominate completely" Jake Paul and "defeat" his opponent as the combatants confronted each other to build hype for the upcoming heavyweight fight.

Ex twice unified heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua faces YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul - in what is, by the numbers, a huge uneven pairing - at Miami's Kaseya Center on December 19th.

Boxer's Attitude

"I will break his face and break his body up. I aim to demonstrate my superiority," the British boxer, 35 years old, declared.

"I plan to overwhelm him. That's how fighters think.

"I will seriously aim to cause him pain. That's what I want to do."

Civil Exchange

In spite of those words, a relaxed Joshua and social media star Paul - typically known for his theatrics - exchanged pleasantries and remained civil with each other.

Jake Paul instead targeted former Joshua's opponent Francis Ngannou and described him as "ridiculous" after Ngannou declined a match opportunity.

Taking Aim at Fury

Anthony Joshua, at the same time, targeted British rival Fury - and rejected a million-pound wager 'Tyson Fury' says he will place on a victory for Paul.

"Jake Paul is superior to Tyson Fury - he's present here," Joshua commented.

"I acknowledge that."

Serious Opponent

In spite of declaring he will damage his opponent, Joshua chose not to talk badly about his opponent's boxing ability.

"Jake is a credible opponent," he stated.

Jake Paul's Background

Jake Paul - who originally gained popularity on the Disney Channel - has mostly boxed mixed martial artists or declining opponents since entering professional boxing.

He lost to British fighter Fury in 2023.

Financial Success

However, the relative newcomer continues to be one of the sport's biggest money-making draws, consistently making substantial financial rewards.

Prediction and Belief

The 28-year-old anticipated a stoppage in round four or five and stated he would derail the much-anticipated Fury-Joshua bout, which is apparently in the works for 2026.

"It will be myself against Tyson Fury next year," Jake Paul said.

Physical Difference

As both boxers met for the customary stare-down, with their height and weight contrast evident, it drove home just how unlikely this whole event is - and how astonishing it is that the fight is actually going ahead.
